I would build it like this: An early 90s Toyota Pickup, stake-bed, dually, 1UZ-FE with ITBs, and a manual transmission. Just listen to that sound.

Although, I've heard that the dually axle used on these are on the weak side. Maybe I would skip the dually.

Well the one in the video has individual throttle bodies, of course it sounds amazing. But they didnt come with those from the factory

Hence why I said I'd build it with ITBs. Luckily, you can get them off the 20V 4A-GE (two sets would be needed).

On the last Smoking Tire podcast they were talking about how now that LS 400s and the like are getting so cheap, UZ's are going to become the next LS, as in people will put them in basically everything.

I mean Matt's got a 900k example that seems to be working fine. Who doesn't want an indestructible 32V DOHC all aluminum V8?

Cool! But why the stakebed?

Also, I didn't know that folks raced mini trucks (as they used to be called back in my day, when we tied onions to our belts as it was the style at the time...)

I approve of this plan! The stake bed is a nice touch.

I've never been a fan of the pickup beds that were fitted to the duallys. As far as I know, the Dually Toyota Pickups were only sold as cab and chassis. Any beds that you see on them were aftermarket.

Another option would be to add a full metal rear, but I'll take the class of the wooden stakes over that.

I think this guy was taking his truck out for a track day, but mini truck racing sounds like a lot of fun.

Ah! Personal preference - the best reason!

My folks used to rent a house and the handyman that the landlady hired drove a 1T Toyota pickup - it basically had a stock bed, but with big fiberglass fenders to accommodate the duallys., similar to this:

Depends on the LS400. Some of them came with weak conrods that'll snap on even the lowest boost.

I'm sure that can be fixed some nice forged replacements. Or just go NA with ITBs, as above haha.

Should have been done from the start by the factory. There is literally no excuse for skimping material (no, weight saving doesn't count) on vital components.
